This Saturday, June 12, we will be running another Back to Basics Motocross at Catheys Creek Motocross in Forest City, NC.
We ran one of these in May and it was a blast.
If you haven't heard about this unique format, here is a quick summary:
We want to lower the cost, increase the track time, and remind everybody that what this sport is really about is hanging out with friends, testing your riding ability against riders of similar abilities on similar machines.
Here is what we are going to do:
Cut back on the number of classes. Do you really enjoy racing in a class with 4 or 5 people? Hopefully this will get more riders in the classes that are offered.
2. 3 moto format. This will allow riders to get more track time for their entry fee.
Awards are optional. This lets us keep the entry fees lower for the many riders that aren’t really racing for a plaque. No protest time. If you are running a class like 50 open and you are the highest placing 6 year old, just ask for a first place award at the window. If it is your first race ever get an award for whatever position you finished. Any position 10 ½ X 13 plaque will be $8 at this event.
4. For this event we will not be requiring pit permits to be purchased. However you must get a sticker and agree to follow the guidelines for our events.
Flaggers will be covering the track just like a regular race. Riders are responsible to read the flag rules and follow them or they will be done for the day.
We will have EMT’s on site.

We have not had a chance to service our lights yet so this will be a day race. We ran the one in May in 4 1/2 hours and nobody complained they didn't get enough track time.
Gates open 6 pm – 10 pm Friday for free camping
Gates open Saturday at 7 AM
Registration starts at 7:30 am (minors must be accompanied by a guardian at registration)
Practice starts at 9 AM, racing will follow (around 10:15)
Gate fees: Adults (12 & over) = $10 , Children (11 and under) - $5 , Children under 4 are free.
All classes are $15
Awards fee = $8 (some different sizes may be available for different prices as well)
If you are driving some distance to come to this race it is never a bad idea to check the newsletter and/or call the race line (704 460-0408) the morning of the event in case any thunderstorms have caused a schedule change.

Peewee
50 Beginner
50 Open
65 Open
85 D
85 Open
150 Open
Unlimited D
Unlimited C
Unlimited AM/C

Some classes may be stager started.
If riders want to run a second class they will need to run up a class. (example: an Unlimited D rider would run Unlimited C)
Classes may be divided if needed (an example: If turnout is good 85 open could be split into JR & SR)

We will offer ATVs if we have at least 8 riders wanting to run. Do NOT plan to race an ATV unless you receive confirmation from us that a class will be offered for them. If you are an ATV rider and are interesting in racing please email us by noon Friday so we can count up and update the newsletter as well as sending out a confirmation email to all those interested. Please include a contact number in your email.
