Track Building

I have been involved in designing and building race and practice tracks for over 24 years.

If you want to check out my resume', it is posted at the bottome of this page.

I will be posting a lot of pictures here, including some of tracks that I have built over the years.

The most recent work will be posted at the top.

If you are interested in having a track built please contact me at jmxinfo@aol.com and I will be happy to let you know what is involved.

I do not give "ballpark" prices until I find out what you are looking for and what you have to work with. Way too many variables.

After we have a chance to talk I will be glad to provide you with all the references you need, and contact information to get in touch with them.

Here is a list of tracks I have built over the years. I might not have pictures of all of them but I will post them if I do. Please check back often as I will be adding a lot more when I have a chance to download or scan them.

My experience

I was the equipment operator and track builder for Victory Sports from 1989 until 1996. I built all the indoor tracks, the fairgrounds tracks, and did extensive work on all the tracks that they ran during that time, including Muddy Creek and Prosport.

Back in the early 90's I worked down in Florida for Worldsports (now Unlimited Sports) during the winter because Victory Sports Didn't have any events From late October until Early March. they ran the Min-O's, , Winter AM Series, and the Gatorback National. I also worked on the supercross crews laying and removing they plywood they had to use in open stadiums.

While doing that I had a chance to learn tricks from some awesome operators, including John Savitski and his guys, Randy and Bill, along with David Brown, and Mark Barnett. It was unbelieveable what those guys could do on the pre-hydrastatic equipment. I worked with Rich Winkler for two seasons before he formed Dirtwerks. The year he formed his new company I made the decision to work for Victory Sports because they were starting to run indoor events enough to keep me busy through the winter, and I don't find Florida to be the wonderful place a lot of people do. It also allowed me to eventually do what I always wanted to do, run my own events.

In 1996 I started running my own events. which started taking more and more of my time. Victory Sports hired Larry Harrison and he quickly mastered track work and has done almost all their work since.

When Victorty Sports needs an extra operator I still work for them. I often work their bigger events like regionals and ATV Nationals as well as working most of their tracks at one time or another in the last couple of years.

At most rounds of the FMF Indoor series Larry builds the track. I level them right after the event while Larry and his guys load everything up to head out. Usually we are all on the road about 2 1/2 hours after the last race is over.

When my racing events took off around 2000 I was running 40+ races and about 25 open practices a year and didn't have time to do but a handful of projects other than my own.

Since racing has dropped off a bit I am starting to do track construction more frequently.

I have worked as an operator the last two years up at the Red Bud Pro National and have worked both the Motorcycle and ATV events at Loretta Lynn's in recent years.

I am not cheapest you will find. Niether am I the most expensive.

I am not the fastest. I can tell you that might not be what you want if you really think about it.

What I can tell you is that I have more track building and prepping experience than most of the others you may run across.

I also know that I am extremely meticulous in my work, especially in areas that a lot neglect, like proper drainage.

I also do a lot more than pile up some dirt and run over it, then say it is done.

I pack everything in on the sides so it doesn't get soft and cause the jump to settle.

I offer advice on any problems you may need help with, like dust control and track maintenance.

If you are interested in having a track built, whether it be to run races or to practice on, please contact me to discuss it with me, or any of the references I will be happy to provide.
